The ladder should prevent most chlorine from escaping, as it is likely to be filled by oxygen. There you go, makeshift, easy to manage slimelung clearing place. Then, pump in chlorine from somewhere else. Build some storage in there, make them only accept slime and algae (since pretty much all slimelung will be in either). past the airlock, build ladders going down a bit, then dig out some space. Yes, while doing so, you'll have to deal with slimelung, but you can limit the impacts by restricting who can and cannot pass your airlocks (should only be builders/diggers at first).

Trying to figure out if you can even "investigate" early on if you have somebody researched far enough then, or if you have to wait when you are at the right progression for harvesting very hot/cold water/steam?Īlthough I am curious if you spawn one close to you in a new game without slime between your biomes and them, when it is practical to try and use it, or is it ever practical early on with the water versions? The other elements/volcanoes are more clear on what/when you need.) Yeah yeah those spewers can be walled in with advanced "tile" materials sans suits to later "tame," but that's a whole other discussion. (But after I learned how difficult certain geysers of many different elements, even the "cool" ones can be, I have respect for those suits in regards to easier exploration.at the cost of needing to develop far on the tree of a certain branched advanced tech and component setup time, of course. I fully understand the submerging/liquid locks/deodorizing O2 before it invades your base and having sometimes to wait a few cycles to make sure if you go without said suits. New player here so I hope this isn't a dumb question but:ĭo most people encounter their slime biome (not just some slime parts, but the whole colony area) around cycle 50+ around when the dups can make the exosuits, or is this a compound delay thing that requires people who do easier exploring by making said suits which would take to around cycle 50+ for the gold/thimbleweed production for all suit/O2 recharge/airlock composition? (no matter how many times i do the train xing tutorial, i cant get them to work right in game lol) except that the train i had carrying it didnt work right. I also don't recall having to micro the oil/petroleum in Factorio either. Then just wait til you get to space, hollow out the slime biomes and watch all the slimelung get sucked into oblivion lol.

(Cold biomes that leech into the edges of slime biomes kill the slimelung there too.) 2 electros and 2 air pumps in 1 box will fill your base and pretty much any dug areas and them some, pretty much forever.Īlso possibly a steam geyser, but geysers purify slimelung from thier general area so just tunnel thru the abysalite to get to it. Slime itself is kinda useless, by the time you get around to turning it into algae, you'll probably have been on electrolizers for 100+ cycles. Only thing you might need out of a slime biome is 1 thimblereed seed to start a small reed fiber farm early on, or just use it to keep any polluted water from piling up, and 400-1200kg of gold, which you should be able to scalp that much from uninfected edges. Personally,I dont use waterlocks cuz they feel like an exploit. You could just avoid the slime biomes altogether. at that point its not a game anymore, its a fricking job. you weren't just building systems, you had to monitor them, and tweak them, and and and and. Then it just became too much micro-manageing.

helluva fun game until you hit the oil and petroleum management. I am not bagging on the game, I'm simply just stating fact for me. You'll have to take my word its well into the 120+ hours. Its just no fun at that point (for me).Īnd before all you Hall Monitors go running off to see how many hours I've played the game so you can make some smart-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ remark, I play my son's version of the game (we share our libraries) so you won't see crap. and then when I hit the slime lung management, I turn the game off and walk away. I enjoy the hell out of the game, I enjoy seeing what I can do in the dungeon I'm handed. it goes from base design to micro-management, and its not fun."Īnd I started laughing. My son and I were at dinner the other night and we were talking about this game, and he said, "I enjoy the hell of of that game until I hit the slime lung management and then it just becomes too much of a pain the ♥♥♥♥♥.
